Preventing Disease, Empowering Communities Since 2019

Community Disease Prevention and Research Center (CDC-Nepal) was founded on 19 January 2019 in response to the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to address both communicable and non-communicable diseases prevalent in Nepal. Although it initially operated as an informal organisation, CDC-Nepal actively participated in national and international forums related to cancer and other non-communicable diseases, and has been conducting community-based disease prevention and screening programmes — particularly for cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses — with support from local municipalities across various districts of Nepal.

After five years of operation, CDC-Nepal was officially registered as a non-profit organisation with the Office of the Company Registrar, Government of Nepal (registration number 337537/080-081), and is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, local municipalities, and the Ministry of Finance.

The Center operates under a constitution, with an elected board overseeing decision-making and strategic planning through annual general meetings.
